Side snapping newborn gown

I was sketching ideas down the other day and I came up with this idea. Raglan sleeves, snaps at side, elastic in casing at the bottom...this one needs less elastic...I made another for a friend who is due next month because this one also has a dodgy snap. Would you believe that none of my snaps really matched, so I went for the netural over navy or red.

Crafty Mama this week

I am crafty mama of the week at Crafty Mamas: http://www.craftymamas.net/?ID=30. I am Jays Mum incase you need to know.

Speaking of Crafty Mamas, I have offered to make custom children's clothing through the store there. Plus I have a needle roll and crochet hooks roll for sale there.

After so much hard work, I am nearly ready to launch my pre-cut clothing kits...just shorts/long shorts/capris and peasant tops to begin with but I have plans to do so much more. It just takes SO much time to make patterns, write instructions and make samples so I can take pictures of the process.

Dress for wedding

I needed a simple (quick) dress to wear to a wedding that we had been invited to at the last minute. I combined 2 patterns (kwik sew 3003 view A and 3032 skirt) to make a dress. I had wanted the longer skirt option but turns out to be long enough in the knit that I used.

Wedding was fantastic...the groom was so nervous and he had tears in his eyes as she walked down the aisle...it was so sweet (unlike at our wedding where I was the one crying as I walked down the aisle...all happy tears mine you!)

Stocktake sale - Spotlight -

I only went to buy elastic, thread and needles, all to complete cut-out projects. I found huge savings - Cotton lycras $14 down to $5, rayon lycras at 5, drills were 2. Basically a lot of stuff between $2-5.

I loaded a trolley full. We waited an hour to be served. The lovely lady behind the counter stated that all the fabrics on sale were a further 50% off. So many lovelies for $2.50. I nearly had a heart attack. I think I bought over 30 meters but it was at a sensational discoutnand I LOVE it all.

And Jalisa is developing my love of fabric...she was rolling in it for goodness sakes.

Overalls for E

So I finally finished some overalls for my nephew, who is 1 mid June. I am happy enough with the applique, but the other night I discovered a different way of appllique-ing (a blanket stitch rather than satin stitch) which may have looked better. Plus, the car looks a little off evan though it was a clip. Oh well.

I used some Michael Miller fabric for the cuffs and even though I was planning to use navy snaps at the legs, I used red all over.

I must get back into selling stuff on ebay. This new computer loads so much faster than my old one. I am aiming to raise enough money to cover registering a business name. With an idea in my head, I have no idea if it will suceed or if it is in God's plan for me but I am going to have a go anyway and come what may.

Slippery fabric

Is there any fabric more slippery than silk satin. It slide around more than the lining. Cindy, her Mum, JoAnne and I were cutting up fabric for the bridemaids dresses. It is a pain but that fabric is so soft and yummy.

The Ipswich Show

Jalisa and I went into the show (met up with some of Wayne's family). We had a good look the craft/art entries. the quilts are just amazing. I found out that I recieved a 2nd and a third (maybe two but one of my entries had fallen over so you can't tell). I think some of the entries didn't have enough competition so they were just displayed. Cheryl suggested the judges must be "older" - obviously they like traditional, country (yawn) entries. Oh well

Patternmaking for fashion design

Just recieved this book in the mail yesterday. It is an early Mother's Day present but I get ot read it now. It is an awesome book, so I can't wait to get wroking on the tasks (hopefully I will get the hang of the drafting...I just wish they had the answers somewhere!)
