Rambling

Yesterday I spent a bit of time making a detailed list of all the businesses that I could possibly set up. One of them was an aussie sewing site. Well, I came across http://www.craftymamas.net today so I might hang there and see how it goes.

I guess I am just looking for a crowd to hang around with. I love lurking on US based forums but I get a bit jealous of the things I miss out on (swaps, trades etc) because it is WAY too expensive to post there all the time. So I am looking for something local.

I have decided that I need to get motivated to make stuff in hopes of trading/selling...at the moment I am in a rut because I need external motivation for this type of stuff. Logically I know that I need a lot more feedback etc from real people regarding my stuff and the only way to get this (and know that a clothing biz is right for me) is to have people DESIRE my stuff.

back online

So I got a computer with a dodgy modem. After hours on the phone and fiddling with my beautiful new machine, I am back online after they came out and replaced the thing. Man, it was pure work trying to convice people that I knew what I was talking about.

My latest purchase

I ordered a snap machine, the dies and 6 different colours of snaps using my birthday money and money left over from selling on ebay. I am very excited as I really loath hammering each snap in, and since I love using them on Jay's clothes, I thought I would make an investment. Besides, I may well have a clothing business one day and I will need it.

Jalisa had a great time at Queen's Park looking a the animals and going on the slide. She wondered off and fell down into the garden. We did not have a good look around - I won't to stay near the bags. The park was so full of kids (school holidays) that someone could easily steal our purses. Sue and our kids had lunch at the kiosk, the hot chips smelt great but I had a toasted sandwich.

New computer

This computer has seen me through 6 years of my life. Through my first job, a uni degree, my first teaching job, my wedding and through my first child. It is time to retire. Maybe we will keep it for the kids to fiddle on but I have had enough of the stalling and refusing to allow me to use it fully.

I am slowly getting better. I did more training at the workshop. Next week I will do it on my own on SIL's home computer. By then my new computer may have arrived and I can work at home. I am really excited at this prospect.

Loves her shoes

I only put shoes on Jay if I remember too (not that often) plus she is starting to walk lots and it is good for them to go shoeless. So this morning while we were waiting for her porridge to cool, she goes into her closet and brings out a pair of shoes and hands them too me. She had this big smile, loving walking around in pretty shoes.

pics

I heavily modified a dress pattern to make the apron top. The back is from the zebra print and totally shirred. I am entering this in the children's wear section. For the applique section...pic my own design, overalls from VKSFT.

I am sick today. I was asked to work but I am fever-ish and tired. Dad picked Jalisa up and I can rest.

Beginning

How does anyone ever start the first entry in a blog? I am just going to carry on as usual even though I have selected the title beginning.

It is only the beginning of this blog, not of anything else in my life. the only beginnnig in my life is I am starting to work for my BIL/SIL doing some data entry, as well as my one day of teaching. So I am a mostly SAHM, occasional WOHM and probably a WAHM too.

I am so excited to be doing some work...I believe it will give more structure to my life. The data entry gig was way out of the blue. I was thinking how I could start a small busisness sewing things at home but this will probably bring in more money for less time. And I can still sew lots for myself and Jalisa.

Speaking of sewing, I finished another item for the Ipswich show. So far that is for. Plus I cut out some tees so at least one of those should be entered too. I will post pics when I take some.
